Two of the most anticipated projects in Albemarle County’s southern development area are the transformation of Southwood Mobile Home Park into a mixed-use community as well as the implementation of Biscuit Run Park.
This winter, Albemarle County has begun construction on a 220-foot long pedestrian bridge over the waterway that gives Biscuit Run its name, as well as a parking lot and a trail compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. This will provide a second entrance to the park from Hickory Street in Southwood.
The project has a cost of $3.5 million and is expected to be completed in spring of 2027. The work is being done concurrently with a stream restoration project underway at Biscuit Run.
