Albemarle seeks firms to replace part of a school roof, connect Southwood to Biscuit Run

Albemarle County Public Schools are seeking companies interested in bidding on a partial roof replacement at Mountain View Primary School. Construction documents have been developed by RRMM Architects of Richmond and Roof Consulting Services of Richmond.

“The project scope is generally comprised of single ply recovery roof installation of approximately 11,038 +/- square feet of roof area, including but not limited to new high density recovery board insulation, new roof membrane and flashings, new trim metals and roof drainage accessories,” reads a summary of work to be performed in the bid documents.

The cost estimate is between $150,000 and $250,000. The work is to be completed by July 10, 2026. The deadline to submit a bid is January 29, 2026.

Bidding recently closed for a project to connect Hickory Street in the Southwood Development with Biscuit Run Park.

“The project is generally described as a 10 foot-wide paved trail approx. 800 feet in length, with a crossing of Biscuit Run consisting of a 3-span prefabricated bridge (approx. 220 foot total span length), along with 53 new paved parking spaces along the Hickory Street shoulder (22 additional spaces included in bid-add),” reads the notice of invitation to bid from Albemarle’s Facilities and Environmental Services Division.

Bids had been due on December 18 but an addendum extended that to December 20 at 2 p.m. The construction drawings were made by Line and Grade. The estimated cost of construction is between $1 million and $3 million.

  • The City of Charlottesville is seeking a firm to remove and replace the granite pavers on the Downtown Mall crossings at 2nd Street NW and 4th Street NE. This will include “Installation of a custom drop inlet, concrete pipe, concrete curb, and sidewalk.” The work will involve coordination with the city’s Public Utilities Division while they replace a drop inlet at the top of 2nd Street NW.   • The City of Charlottesville is seeking firms to provide quotes for tree watering and maintenance in the spring and summer of 2026. The documents state that the firm would be responsible for 373 trees between March 15 and October 31. Bids are due December 30, 2025. (learn more)
