Several wireless communications companies across the United States are reporting outages, prompting the Charlottesville Emergency Communications Center to issue the following service alert.
“We are actively monitoring a widespread cellular outage that is reported to be impacting some wireless customers in our service area,” reads the alert. “If you are unable to dial or text 9-1-1 using your wireless phone, please try again with a different device or a landline.”
The website Marketwatch is reporting that AT&T is aware of the issue and is recommending customers enable wi-fi calling if they have access.
Verizon Support reported on the former Twitter that their services are working.
