The AC44 process is now in its third phase as the actual language of the update is slowly revealed to the Planning Commission, the Board of Supervisors, and the public.
The work session will feature a discussion of land use categories which tell landowners what the county would like to see happen on each parcel of land.
Albemarle Supervisors have already determined that growth area expansion won’t happen with the current Comprehensive Plan cycle, but at least one Planning Commissioner said more land is needed for new homes and jobs.

As of this post, Albemarle County’s website has not been updated to reflect a new schedule for the Comprehensive Plan review.
Albemarle County staff decided to restructure the Comprehensive Plan at the end of phase two and both the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors got briefings in July. There’s a podcast for both in this post.
