Charlottesville City Council named several people to boards and commissions at their meeting on May 18, 2026, but not to the seven-person Board of Commissioners for the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority.

The CHRA Board currently has two vacancies and a third position expires on June 30. Applications are being taken for two at-large positions and one reserved for a resident of a CRHA property.

“The CRHA Board helps guide policies and decisions related to affordable housing and redevelopment initiatives that support Charlottesville residents and neighborhoods,” reads an information release sent out on May 19 after Council made other appointments the night before.

The CRHA is also overseeing the redevelopment of several properties including new units at South First Street and Sixth Street. Planning work is also underway for the first of Westhaven. City staff approved a major development plan on March 9 and a preliminary ranking from Virginia Housing indicates the project will likely be awarded low-income housing tax credits.

The CHRA meeting scheduled for May 25 has been canceled.
