For those who love everything on two wheels, there are still two and a half more weeks of Charlottesville Bike Month. That includes City Councilor Natalie Oschrin.
“If everyone checks bikecville.com you’ll see a calendar of events,” Oschrin said. “A Bingo card that you can fill out for different activities.”
The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation is also taking advantage of Bike Month to demonstrate a resource they have to help people who want to try to drive less often. City Councilor Jen Fleisher said Charlottesville is in a competition with other communities in the Commonwealth.
“If you join connectingva.com and track your bike rides this month, we’re in a bike-friendly challenge,” Fleisher said. “I don’t think it’s friendly because what’s happening is that Richmond is beating us by five rides right now so I need you guys to sign up.”
Roanoke is currently in third according to the leaderboard and this will be updated next on Friday.
Bike Month was established in 1956 by the League of American Cyclists.
