When the Board of Commissioners of the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority meet for the next time on July 28, there will be two new members.
Charlottesville City Council has appointed Lise Clavel and Gillet Rosenblith to fill two vacancies.
According to a July 2024 profile on UVA Today, Clavel recently served a one-year stint as a practitioner fellow in democracy at the University of Virginia’s Karsh Institute of Democracy. She has also served as a deputy assistant to President Barack Obama as a senior advisor for migration for President Joe Biden. Clavel has also been a chief of staff at the United States Customs and Border Protection.
Rosenblith is on the general faculty at the University of Virginia’s College and Graduate School of Arts and Science. According to a profile, she is working on a book about the history of public housing. Rosenblith has had two post-doctoral fellowships at the Karsh Institute of Democracy.
The two newcomers fill the terms left by former CRHA Commissioners Wes Bellamy and Laura Goldblatt. The positions are two of four at-large slots on the seven-member body.
Charlottesville Mayor Juandiego Wade was absent for the second Council meeting in a row.
