Edwards has most recently been the senior vice president and regional president of Sentara’s eastern division, responsible for five hospitals. In 2023 and 2024, Edwards served as Sentara’s interim president for acute and post-acute delivery. She’ll begin work at UVA on September 15.

“Serving as interim CEO of UVA Health’s University Medical Center is a hugely exciting opportunity,” the release quotes Edwards. “I look forward to working with all the team members to build on the exceptional patient care UVA Health already offers for patients across Virginia and beyond.”

According to the Cavalier Daily, Horton had been serving in her position since 2020. She left the position to become senior vice president and president of adult care services at the University of California South Francisco.
