Local businesses sponsoring July 4 firework display on Carter Mountain

Independence Day in the United States of America is synonymous with firework displays but in recent years there has been no community-wide event.

This year a coalition of area businesses has arranged one to take place atop Carter Mountain sometimes after 9 p.m. on July 4.

“We really think this is a time for being proud of our community, and being proud to be American, and we’re really excited for the show this year,” an information release quotes Jamie Yowell, a realtor and one of the organizers.

The fireworks known as Cville Spectacular will also be displayed on CBS19 and streamed on CBS19News.com.

Sponsors include: Bank of the James, Carter Mountain Orchard, Greenwood Homes, the City of Charlottesville, Albemarle County, the Charlottesville Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau, Woodard Properties, the University of Virginia, Caton Companies, Hill and Wood, Martin Horn, Corcoran Wiley, the Blue Ridge Mountain Rotary Club and CBS19.
