UVA More than the Score lecture series happening at Virginia Guesthouse this year

For more than twenty years, the University of Virginia Alumni Association and the UVA Office of Engagement have hosted a lecture series before home football games that showcase faculty research and thought.

The “More than the Score” lectures have been held for years at the now-demolished Alumni Hall on Emmett Street. That structure has been removed to make way for a new alumni building to be named Aggarwal Hall.

This year, the lectures have a new home.

“Before kickoff on home football game mornings, the University of Virginia’s More Than The Score speaker series brings fans, alumni and lifelong learners together for thought-provoking talks by top UVA faculty at the newly-opened Virginia Guesthouse Hotel and Conference Center,” reads an information release about this year’s series.

Here’s what’s coming up:

• September 26: A Look into the Crystal Ball: The Trump 2.0 Midterms*
• October 10: Reimagining Our Food, Water, and Environment: A Start-up Journey
• November 14: John F. Kennedy and Eleanor Roosevelt: Conflict and the Common Good
• November 21: The Spirit of UVA: March On with the Cavalier Marching Band

The Virginia Guesthouse opened in April in the Emmet-Ivy corridor and has three restaurants open to the public according to the release.

“Grab a quick coffee and pastry from The Counter Café to enjoy during the morning lecture, pair your learning with libations at The Perch rooftop bar, or refuel after gameday with a meal at the property’s signature restaurant, Poplar,” the release continues.

The first event begins tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom at the Virginia Guesthouse. Those who wish to attend are asked to register in advance.
