Almost a year has passed since the Blue Moon Diner closed at 606 West Main Street, but a new restaurant is preparing to open at the site.
A company called 606 West Main Street LLC has filed for a license with the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority for a place to be called Maggie’s Midtown. That’s according to a public notice in the October 4, 2025 edition of the Charlottesville Daily Progress.
A first version of the Blue Moon Diner opened in 1979 and closed in 2004 to become a commissary for Harvest Moon Catering. In 2006, new owners reopened the space which closed temporarily while an apartment building known as Six Hundred West Main was constructed behind the building.
A building permit was issued in June.
The October 2, 2025 Daily Progress has another public notice from one of the area’s health providers.
“On January 1, 2026, Sentara Health Plans will no longer offer the following Medicare Advantage plans: Sentara Medicare Value (HMO), Sentara Medicare Prime (HMO), Sentara Medicare Salute (HMO), Sentara Medicare Engage Diabetes and Heart (HMO C-SNP), Sentara Medicare Engage Lung (HMO C-SNP).”
Anyone with those plans are encouraged to visit the Medicare website.
Another public notice of late is from the September 30, 2025 Daily Progress and a public message from Albemarle County to the owner of 340 Greenbrier Drive notifying them of a potential action to be taken on blight.
“In accordance with Albemarle County Code 5-300, this notice is to notify you that the County, through its own agents or employees, will remove, repair or secure any building, wall or any other structure on the above-referenced Property that might endanger the public health or safety of other residents of the County, if after reasonable notice and a reasonable time to do so, you fail to remove, repair, or secure the building, wall or other structure,” reads the message to property owner Sue Albrecht.
Albemarle County’s land use portal includes many inspection notices that show the property is in violation with the most recent being on July 15, 2025. Details can be seen here.
