In a four-way race for three positions on the Charlottesville School Board, activist Zyahna Bryant has received the most votes.
According to the unofficial returns as of early November 7, Bryant received 8,806 votes followed by incumbents Emily Dooley and Lisa Larson-Torres. Dooley had 8,721 votes and Larson-Torres had 8,334 votes.
Dashad Cooper placed fourth with 6,760.
The City Council race was a foregone conclusion with Jen Fleisher being elected alongside Juandiego Wade. Fleisher and Wade won the Democratic Primary in June in the first primary contest to be decided using ranked-choice voting.
Fleisher received 11,938 votes and Wade received 11,613 votes according to the unofficial results.
“I am honored that the citizens of Charlottesville have entrusted me with their vote,” Wade said in a statement. “I will not let them down.”
Several Constitutional officers were on the ballot and all of them were uncontested.
- Todd Divers is still Commissioner of the Revenue.
- Jason Vandever is still the Treasurer.
- James Brown is still the Sheriff.
- Joseph Platania is still the Commonwealth’s Attorney
