Charlottesville City Attorney provides details to retain Gentry Locke in zoning case following default judgment reprieve
The law firm was to have paid $150,000 in damages to the city if the default judgment remained in place

The case will now proceed to a trial but a date has not yet been scheduled
The city has until Monday to file its arguments and plaintiffs will have until Wednesday to respond before the written ruling is issued August 22
The net hearing is set for August 13 at 1 p.m. in Charlottesville Circuit Court
The motion was filed a day after City Council voted to refer the “new” zoning to the Planning Commission for a public hearing
One major development plan has been filed since the city announced they would resume accepting new applications
This is certainly not the last story that will be written about this ever-developing subject
The city is not saying much yet about their legal response
The city’s new attorney, John Maddux, will now be in charge of the response.
